One thing I have learned over the last few years is, that as much as we plan our lives and believe we are in control, life can be like a merry go round. It has its ups and downs and is always going round and round.
I recently went on a trip and had an opportunity meet new friends and connect with old friends, and talk about life. I listened, and laughed, and cried and reflected. For many of us, we seem to be in a season of change and challenges.
What I do know is that life will always present us with these scenarios but it is what we choose to do with them that make a difference in how they play out. Much of our life is really out of our control. This I have learned in more recent years. Shit happens for sure. This is life!
Life is what happens when we live, good or bad; pretty or ugly. That is ok, as it makes us richer and deeper in the end and more sweeter and refined. It is up to us to look at all of our challenges and changes that come to us as a moment in time, a mountain to climb, and in the end when we make it through, we have gained some knowledge and developed our character.
We may as well be fully present and participate, as life will always go round and round with or without us. Life is to be lived as sweet no matter what season you are in, and friends are to be cherished, new ones and old.
In closing, I will share this quote by Katherine Anne Porter. “Each generation must get on the same old merry-go-round only disguised in a fresh coat of paint”
We are not all that different than each other. Choose to enjoy the ride, it will always go round and round and up and down anyways, so you may as well have fun!
